ARCHI AFRICA
Am lost in a pretty cosmos
A world I dont intend to find myself out of
A vague space yet everything looks astonishing
A place where every imagination is alive
You dont play by rules
Just imagine and make it come true
Am in a space where Chinnua Achebe's "No longer at ease",
Shares a seat with Ngugi Wa Thiong'o's "Weep not, child",
Having a conversation with Ayi Kwei Armah's "Beautiful ones are not yet born"
Am in a place where we sit under shades of African prints
To eat "kelewele" and share African stories,
Of which came before we were born
Am in a space where dead tree trunks, give rise to new flowers
Am in a place where we dont need umbrellas to sheild us from the rains
And rays of the sun
A place where bottles of Moet, Angel tears, Porcupine ridge,
Mandingo bitters and Nederburg from the wine master,
Rest under the shades of colorful umbrellas
Am in a place where flowers hung from the wall
A place where you can see a portrait hung in between two drouses
A place where the ruins from ancient Accra,
Still worth as much as gold from the Gold Coast
Welcome to Archi Africa
